For schools
Do we need a dedicated studio?
No. The lab fits into an ordinary school room: seven light tables, a camera above the teacher's table and a projector or interactive display.
Who leads the lessons?
One of the school's own teachers — an art, literature or elementary school teacher. They complete a 12-hour training course and receive monthly mentoring.
What do the packages include?
START: equipment and curriculum for one age group. SCHOOL: equipment and curriculum for up to four groups, teacher training, monthly support and a school festival. SCHOOL PLUS: everything in SCHOOL, plus extended support, professional filming of the festival and additional materials.
Can the municipality or a partner fund our participation?
Yes. A municipality can become a partner of the first national season, and partners and sponsors support schools in the periphery through the “50 Founding Schools” package.
Program and lessons
How many children are in a group?
Twelve: two at each of the six student stations. One kit serves up to four age groups — up to 48 students.
How long is a lesson?
Grades 1–2: 60 minutes; grades 3–4: 75 minutes; grades 5–6: 75–90 minutes; grades 7–9: 90 minutes.
How many lessons are there in a year?
30 structured lessons for each age group. With four groups, that's 120 group lessons a year.
What kind of program is this?
It is a general-development arts workshop. It supports the goals of the Life Skills (Kishurei Chaim) curriculum and SEL: self-awareness, self-regulation and relationship skills.
What happens if the projector breaks?
The teacher follows a “turn the glitch into art” protocol: the glitch becomes part of the story, and the lesson goes on. For example: “The big lanterns in our hall have gone out — it's time for a starry night!” The operator's technical support team then helps restore the equipment.
Safety
Is the sand safe?
We use purified foundry quartz with a grain size of 0.1–0.3 mm, kiln-dried twice and cyclone-cleaned, with no construction sand or clay. It complies with standard SI 562 (harmonized with EN 71). The tables are wiped with alcohol-free wipes after every lesson.
Are children's faces filmed?
No. The camera is mounted overhead and films only hands and sand. Alphanumeric IDs are used instead of names.
Are the tables electrically safe?
Yes. The tables run on SELV 12 V low-voltage power, so there is no 220 V at children's workstations. The LED panel is flicker-free and IP65 dust-protected.
What if a parent does not agree to video publication?
Consent to publication is separate. Declining does not prevent a child from taking part in the lab with the group.
Status and participation
What happens to the status if a school leaves the program?
The school keeps its historical Founding School status. Its page shows the current program status separately: active or inactive.
Can a school join in the second year?
Yes. Schools that join from the 2027/28 season onward become part of the network and take part in the program and festival, but do not receive founder status.
How does a school get an IL number?
The number is reserved when the contract is signed. The official status is granted after payment, equipment confirmation, the appointment and training of a teacher, and the school's activation in the system.
Does founder status give any rights in the company?
No. The status is honorary and does not confer any corporate rights.
How are festival works judged?
The group's team work is evaluated; there are no individual rankings. The technical committee is separate from the artistic jury, and a People's Choice audience award is given alongside. Every school becomes a laureate in its own category.
